On 5 November 1967, Austria and Greece played a football, some say soccer, match. It was a European Championship qualifier. The match was abandoned before the end due to some sort of crowd disturbance with the score at 1-1 and, although the match was not completed, the score stood. Why?! I have the names of the scorers and the team line-ups. What I need is further information about the disturbance and the abandonment, and FIFA's decision to let the result stand, perhaps in the form of a match report or news report. There's a tip if you can come up with any other international football matches that have been abandoned but the scores have stood. Thanks in advance.Dear paultoon-ga, I can tell you from a newspaper account (v...... - 2008-10-09

» US Women's National Soccer Team

Does the US Women's National Soccer Team practice, and typically lose, against high school boys soccer teams? I remember reading somewhere on the Web (I think in a national magazine) that the US Women's National soccer team practices against high school boys, and typically loses. One of the women players described how the boys literally ran circles around the players of the women's national team. I would like to find this article or references to this article.Hi nimbel9-ga, " Don't expect to see in WUSA the same kind of athleticism you would see in the men's game. The women's national team sometimes practices against under-sixteen boys' teams—and loses. "They just boot it over our heads and run past us," ...... - 2008-10-09

» playing football in the NFL

What typee of representation is need to get a tryout in National Football LeagueHi goldnboi-ga, What an interesting question, one that I’m sure interests many young men, but one as I’m sure you already know, that’s not easy to find a whole lot of insider information about. The short answer to your question is that it’s within the realm of possibility to get an NFL tryout without any representation at all, to represent yourself as a “free agent” – IF you’re good enough, IF you have a track record, say in college ball, IF you know someone who knows someone, and IF you have the nerve to show up as a walk-on at a tryout. To find out where they are, just go to the sites of individual teams and read t...... - 2008-10-09

» Markup on coffee, popcorn, etc.

''How much does that REALLY cost?'' I need to find the markups on common items in our lives such as designer coffee, movie popcorn, caesar salads in restaurants, that kind of thing. I need four such items that show obscene markups on things we all pay for willingly -- if possible, including rough associated costs (transportation, etc.)Hello jhabley, Thank you for your question. I recall an article, perhaps in Inc or Entrepreneur in the mid 80's, that claimed that the two highest profit products ever (or at least for a small business) were popcorn and balloons. Vendors at flea markets that worked only two days a week were reported as earning over $50,000 a year NET - and this was mid 80's. Popcorn came in a...... - 2008-10-09

Hello, Does it has a profitable perspective to sell Cooking Recipes e-books? Thank you!Dear Neon_Ray, Thank you for your inquiry! It seems that it does NOT have a profitable perspective to sell cooking recipe e-books. According to Investor's Business Daily, the total electronic-book market (including devices and titles) for the year 2000 registered a meager $34 million. Forrester Research estimates that over the next five years, the e- book and e-book device market will only fetch a commiserable $251 million. Based on article available at ComputerUser.com, "Publishers are expecting trade e-book sales that won't materialize," commented Daniel P. » How did/will you teach your child(ren) to tie his/her/their shoes?

How did/will you teach your child(ren) to tie his/her/their shoes? My mom taught me the "bunny ears" way, where you make two loops with the strings and tie them around each other. When I was about 10 though, I got frustrated with how easily that method fell apart, so I learned how to do what my mom calls "wrap around the tree", where you take one string and make it into a loop and take the other string and wrap it around the loop. ...... - 2008-10-09

» English Criminal Law

Two prisoners are charged with criminal offences under English Law and they are, of course, presumed innocent until found guilty. The judge agrees that they can be tried separately. Prisoner #2 is 'sent below' and the jury finds Prisoner #1 guilty of certain offences that presuppose the guilt of Prisoner #2. The jury is then dismissed. A new jury is sworn in and Prisoner #2 is tried and found guilty. So everything is hunky dory ? Or is it? Had both prisoners been tried together, the jury may have formed a different view had they heard the stories of both prisoners. What do you think? This is an academic question because (as far as I know) I am not lined up to be either Prisoner #1 or Prisoner #2.Note that t...... - 2008-10-09

Apparently, in illinois, if a cop pulls you over and you are there for more than 20 minutes, and you do not leave in hand cuffs, it is an invalid traffic stop. (I.E. » My rights and duties- employer asks me to provide testimony in its civil lawsuit

My company has verbally asked me to meet with their attorney to support their civil action against another party. At this point it appears the case is going to arbitration. I don't know if it is binding or not. I have peripheral involvment in the issue. It involves my knowledge of the facts and circumstances regarding a prior accounting transaction. I was a member of the accounting department, but not the manager. Specifically I am wondering: Should I insist that my employer's request to meet with their attorney be in writing and authorized by a company official at a high enough level? Should I request that my company's written authorization include guidance/ direction about the type of information they want ...... - 2008-10-09

» Why You Should Respect Copyright Notices

If you steal materials from someone else and use it at your website, you might get away with it. It's possible that no one will notice. Even if someone does notice, you will probably just receive an email asking for its removal. If you comply with that request, nothing else will happen to you. Even if you ignore that letter, you will probably just have to suffer a temporary take down of the offending page until you make requisite adjustments. You probably won’t be sued. So, considering just how unlikely it is to run into life-threatening trouble from infringing upon someone else’s rights, why should you care? Let’s outline a few reasons why no one should intentionally act in a manner that infringes someone else’s intellectual propert...... - 2008-10-09

» Product review: Blue Coat SG Client shortens WAN waits for mobile users

Optimizing and accelerating traffic across the WAN no longer requires searching for exotic solutions -- there are a variety of appliances available from which admins may choose. Simply install an appliance on both ends of the WAN circuit and let them reduce network chatter, help mitigate the effects of latency, and make better overall use of the link. This optimization lovefest breaks down, however, with mobile users and small offices. For obvious reasons, an appliance isn't appropriate for users on the go, and branch offices with a small number of users typically can't justify the cost of WAN acceleratio...... - 2008-10-09

» Dumpster-diving for e-data

Dumpster-diving -- going through trash bins in hopes of finding paper records with valuable information like customer names or future product plans -- is alive and well in the age of USB flash drives and portable music players. Every user who throws away (or loses) a keychain-size flash drive could be unintentionally leaking critical information to a competitor. Any of the tens of millions of desktop and notebook computers disposed of each year in landfills, junkyards, and yard sales could be a rich trove of corporate data left on a hard drive by lazy users or IT departments. ...... - 2008-10-09

Does a person with vitiligo have an increased risk of developing skin cancer?Hello and thank you for your question. » Emergency Medicine Residencies offering H1B visas

I'm an foreign medical graduate (FMG), and planning on coming to the US to do an Emergency Medicine residency. There are approximately 130 residencies in the USA. Some residency programs (or their host medical schools) will only accept FMG's on a J1 visa (which has to be sponsored by ECFMG). Others will sponsor FMG's themselves for an H1B visa, either routinely or for exceptional circumstances. Sometimes this decision is made at the level of the residency director, sometimes there are medical school rules regarding Graduate Medical Education (GME) that override any decision that could be made at residency level. I would like a list of emergency medicine residency programs in the United States that are willing to sponsor an H1B...... - 2008-10-09
