Aussies: are you reading Costello's memoirs and getting increasingly pissed off?!?

I threw down the magazine in fury after reading : "[Howard] never raised the issue [of the leasership] with me." Why the heck didn't Costello CHALLENGE Howard?! You don't wait for your rival to concede defeat, you challenge him!

What do you feel and think?

Additional Details

I won't be buying his book either, Elizabeth.

Those who are interested in why Howard got to dominate the government and the country for so long, may wish to read the extracts published today in the "Good Weekend" magazine, which is sold with both the Weekend Australian and the Saturday Age. I won't be buying his book either, Elizabeth.

Sorry, PRS, I like you but I think you need a LITTLE more life experience before you decide you're so "over" politics! If you want to know why you should care, read up on the treatment of refugees (known as 'asylum seekers') under the Howard govt. mot of us just wish the polititions would disappear and that the country would run itself,
  • He didn't challenge him because he knew he wouldn't have the numbers if Howard was challenged and wasn't ready to go at that time. He thought Howard would step aside at some stage and when Howard didn't, Costello was left up the well known creek with only a barbed wire paddle.

    EDIT:
I might buy his book in a couple of months when it's on the remainder table for $4.99. That's more than it's worth, but we like to add to our collection of the memoirs of political has beens (and never weres like Costello).
  • I agree with you, Peter Costello has always been all talk, about the leadership of the Libs, and no action.
I won't be reading his book.
  • Peter (No Nuts) Costello?
    Meh...
  • I don't even think I could be bothered commenting about it. My statement on the subject is:
"Meh". You can quote me on that. Is it just me or has Australian politics slid to such a level that there's just nothing even worth thinking about any more? Are they that pathetic? We should elect some crazy random off the street. At least that would make it interesting...
  • Read his book

    Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaaa

Just so I can read about him bit*ch and whinge for a couple of hundred pages NO THANK YOU.
  • I'm not forking out good money to help support some overpaid public servant that will retire with more money and extras than most of us would see in two lifetimes. I didn't like him as treasurer i would have been totally ticked off if Jackboot John Howard had won the election and then handed it over to Costello.
As for the so called refugees if they enter our country illegally then why shouldn't they be stuck in a detention centre, i bet if we entered their country illegally we would face much harsher penalties.
  • In regards to the above answer, I dont see how the issue of "refugees" is relevant to this question. Anyway, yes Peter Costello confuses the hell out of me. he seemed deperate for the chance to run as PM while Howard was up there but goes on about how he won't ever run for the top job in the opposition. Still I'd prefer him than Brendan Nelson, who seems to be forgetting he's opposition leader and seem's to think he's PM... thankgod he's not..
